Today the sun was striking above The Modern Pantry. It got very busy. Hopefully Jeff always assigns me to the outside section so I can benefit from this wonderful summertime weather: I think my arms got tanned today.
No panic attack at work today: everything went well.
I love Matt our receptionist! He appears to be very discreet and polite, but today he surprised me. He belched several times and announced proudly:
“I can belch deliberately. RRRttt... RRRRrrttt... I can belch non-stop if I want. RRRrrrrrtt...
- Stooop it! Please! ”
I like our clientele. We often happen to have handsome men, well suited and civilized. Also, it occurs that we serve famous people. Last week, I served a singer from London, whose name I don’t remember. The woman with him was crying and he ordered her a croissant. However, we have interesting people. An old man came alone yesterday, had a coffee and laughed while reading Edisto, by Padget Powell, an American who wrote a whole book in Question Marks.
This morning a man was staring at me. He said it was because he was an author and he was looking for inspiration for a new story, a drama story. I wish I will be part of it.
On my way home, I found books to let on someone’s fence. I took three of them. Thank you neighbour!
