DAY 5: Sunday

I’ve already started thinking in Shakespeare’s language; therefore I might start to write in English.

10:30 On God’s day, I decided to pray in the morning. My hostel is located nearby an ancient church, all made of rocks, which let me hope that the “messe” would be as impressive as the building. Conclusion: even in England, religion turned very “quétaine” (some québécois words we can’t find in English...!) nowadays, with a teenage girl singing popular songs, accompanied by an electric piano and a man with a “tambour”. Anyways, the theme was Thankfulness, and I thanked life for having the freedom of law and abilities to travel.

People were very involved in this church, there was real bread and wine given for the Christ’s blood and body, and even coffee and cookies offered for the poor and hungry girl I was. After the “messe”, a woman tried to convince me to try the 40 days lent, not having nor food, neither water form 6 AM to 6 PM, which I would not do right now because I’m on a mind of taking the more calories I can!

I met my new and 6th roommate today: Monica, from Spain. She looked nice so I helped her getting a mobile from the UK and we went shopping at Primarks, the cheapest shop in town. I bought a waitress pant for 5 Pounds!

21:00 I made a deal with Grazianno: I did his elbows (Italian style: they take off the hair above the elbows!), and tomorrow he teaches what I need to know as a waitress.

22:00 I went out with two ladies I met at the hostel yesterday: Suzanna and Carol, both from Protugal, both 25 years old. Contrasting with the girls in the hostel who smoke joints and complain that they haven’t found a job yet, Suzanna and Carol are smart women... and nice, moreover. Suzanna’s boss came to take us three a friend of his, a manager of another bar, and a two doors Mini Bentley... J It was kind of a business meeting, you know, making contacts to get a job, maybe.

We had cocktails at The Tiger Tiger, a famous four floors bar –that was empty on this Sunday night. Then we accessed a VIP section of another club, had a few drinks and danced until the closure. Then we had McDonalds in the all-in-leather-Bentley, because Suzanna and I were hungry. Then they took us back home. A wonderful evening for... 0 Pound! I am getting pretty good at not spending money!

Oh. Maman, c’étaient deux arabes.

AND an Italian waiter from the RACINE restaurant (my horrible trial, remember?), sent me a text for a drink next Saturday, which I may accept because he was a very funny, saying “Bril-li-ant” every time I would do the Mise en Place correctly or place the cutlery as required.
