We hosted the guests at 1 PM, holding champagne trays, tidy and smiling, in the entrance of a flat at 16 Hoxton Square, nearby Old Street Station.
Mandi had managed everything to be perfect, especially our suit including our Liberty of London tie. She was beautiful: red lipstick and flower in the hair, black gloves and dress, spider thighs...
Jonathan made a fool of me because I bought my white shirt in Hawes & Curtis (£35) rather than Primark (£10) – Quality instead of rubbish. He said I would not make my working day profitable, since I had already spent my earnings on my suit.
Outside catering was great. It is great to work with a nice team and to have happy guests whose expectations are to have food and alcohol, music and fun. We spent most of the time cleaning and polishing glasses, dancing on 90’s music, did not get much food – only loads of cakes and drinks, worked 12 hours rather than 5 as we were scheduled for, but we had so much fun.
Jaime, our muscular Spanish bartender plays the elder brother with me. He puts his big hand in my face, pushes me, points at me and says: “Ahh look at the lovely French girl...”
Javier our Spanish waiter is a very good person. And handsome. He fixed the sleeves of my shirt on my arrival: “I am your fashion dresser.” He gave me a white rose from the edge of the window and hung it on my tie: “My love.”
Jonathan and I stayed until the end. One the grooms slid £20 in our pockets, whispered “for you”, beside our generous wage of £10 per hour. My Hawes & Curtis shirt was paid: £145 a day!
